Submission on the Social Security (Subsequent Child Policy Removal) Amendment Bill

Caritas supported removal of the ‘subsequent child policy’ from Social Security legislation. This placed work obligations on beneficiaries when an additional child came into their care. Caritas had opposed such measures when introduced some years ago, as they discriminate against and penalise sole parents.
