Foundational State of the Environment for Oceania 2014 Report

Report cover-crop.jpg

In 2014 we produced our foundational report on the environment in Oceania based on interviews with our partners in the region. We took the title, Small yet strong: Voices from Oceania on the environment, from the Pope Francis quote below.

Small yet strong in the love of God, like Saint Francis of Assisi, all of us, as Christians, are called to watch over and protect the fragile world in which we live, and all its peoples.
— Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium, 2013

Small yet strong: Voices from Oceania on the environment

Our foundational report on the environment in Oceania provides a view from the grassroots and coastal edges of the region on key environmental issues affecting people’s lives, livelihoods and culture. Our partners and contacts across the region, including Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia, speak on issues such as deforestation, mining, sea level rise, changing weather patterns and the security of food and water supplies.

Small yet strong gathers experiences, identifies problems and provides recommendations for action. It will be used locally, regionally and internationally to encourage stronger action to protect our lands and our oceans for all people, especially the poorest, and for all generations.

It provides a compelling regional voice for our region, as the world community works towards post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals and a global climate change agreement.
