Teaching for Change
This gift goes towards the Caritas Learning Fund which supports education and training. Sometimes information is difficult to spread in places with very limited resources. Providing people with a place to come together and setting aside time to discuss vitally important issues enables them to come up with desperately needed solutions.

Case Study
Long term effective change often involves education, formation and encouragement of people into new habits, from within their own culture, by their own people.
In Kiribati, for many families, a healthy diet is not possible, with the high cost of food and limited access to fresh vegetables leaving them struggling to meet basic needs.
But through our local partnership, the ‘Health Champions’ programme is changing lives and teaching pre-school and primary school children, and their mums and dads are learning life-changing lessons about nutrition and hygiene.
In the training, they learn about nutrition concepts and simple, affordable ways to improve their nutrition. These include things like increasing water intake, reducing sugar and salt, managing portion sizes, and boosting the quantity of fruit and vegetables in their meals.
Families across Kiribati are learning new ways to source good food like growing their own vegetables, and once hungry children have the nourishment they need!
