Case Study
Having just completed a multi-year programme teaching and workshopping across Kiribati communities in healthy nutrition and lifestyles, the Kiribati Catholic Women’s Association (known as Teitoiningaina) is well-placed to teach and mentor for positive change in Kiribati.
Working with a team of between 30-40 ‘Kiribati Health Champions’ (KHC) trainers, Teitoiningaina is working to help reduce the high incidence of non-communicable diseases (such as diabetes and heart disease) in communities across Kiribati, particularly in the outer islands where many people are overlooked and health systems are often lacking and very difficult to access.
