Water for Life
This gift goes towards the Caritas Life Fund which helps people in emergencies. Water is essential for life – we use it to drink, cook, wash and grow crops. But what if you had to walk several kilometres every day just to get a bucket of water? This gift can provide access to safe water

Case Study
The small island eco-systems of the Pacific Islands are greatly affected by changing weather patterns and cyclones can be devastating because people rely heavily on farming and fishing.
The remote Tongan islands of Ha’apai are low lying and do not have natural reservoirs of water. People rely on rain-fed drinking water as the ground water is too salty to drink.
Sometimes the rainy season does not provide as much rainfall as it used to, and when followed by a drought, water is in short supply.
With our local partner Caritas Tonga, we brought in new plastic rainwater-collection tanks and restored some older concrete tanks. Now, local people have a more reliable water supply and don’t need to worry if a drought arrives!
