Caritas Briefing for Incoming Ministers 2023 - Modern Slavery Legislation

24 November 2023

Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand is calling for the introduction of legislation to protect workers in the supply chains of Aotearoa New Zealand businesses and ensure that New Zealanders are not consuming goods and services produced under conditions of slavery. Since 2020, we have been part of the national movement advocating for the introduction of such legislation. We were pleased at the announcement of drafting of the legislation to begin in July 2023, and wish to emphasise the urgent need for this work to continue.
