Social Justice Week

Social Justice Week ran from 3 - 9 September 2023.

Social Justice Week in 2023 was the beginning of something very special. For the next three years the focus will be on peace and responding to conflict. The overarching tagline is:

‘Imagine Peace For All / Pohewatia te Rangimārie mō te Katoa’.

Each year there will be a unique focus. The theme for 2023 was

Peace begins with you! / Ka tīmata tonu te Rangimārie i roto i ā koe!’.

Education resources were created and include background notes for teachers, daily prayers, learning activities, a liturgy, a poster, a peace placemat for younger students, and three action templates.

Catholic schools around New Zealand all received hard copies of the poster which will be used over the next 3 years along with the 2023 focus “brick. Please feel free to order more posters or bricks by contacting education@caritas.org.nz

Key Resources

Share With Us - We’d love to hear from you!

Please send to education@caritas.org.nz any ideas, prayers, activity ideas or stories that focus on peace that we could use for next year’s resources. These could be original student material or what you’ve found elsewhere.

Next year the focus will move to reconciliation and finding peace in our relationships. If you have any great examples that we could share of how you or your school handles conflict resolution we’d love to find out more and possibly share it in 2024 for others to benefit from.
