Pakistan: A forgotten crisis

In mid-2022, heavy rainfall across Pakistan resulted in devastating floods - leading to a third of the country being submerged by the deluge. Official figures show that the floods resulted in over 1,700 deaths and approx. 12,000 injuries.

A total of 116 districts were affected, with approximately 24 billion NZD of damage estimated across the nation.

Our partner Caritas Pakistan worked closely with the Pakistani Government to respond swiftly to the crisis, and ensure human dignity was preserved.

Caritas Pakistan, provided relief to 2,000 flood affected households through cooked food, tarpaulin sheets, safe drinking water, hygiene supplies and vital medical services.
