Lujan Home for Girls, our partners since 2017, has provided a safe haven for hundreds of girls. Some have fled forced marriages, endured abuse, and others come from impoverished families with limited opportunities and access to education.
Many girls living at Lujan Home for Girls in Papua New Guinea, including Bridgith, have faced serious challenges.
Before finding sanctuary at Lujan, Bridgith faced a long, and unsafe journey to school. But her life has been transformed since arriving - she finally feels safe and has dreams of becoming a doctor one day.
A special gift today can ensure more young women like Bridgith have the skills and opportunities to thrive!
Gender-Based Violence Awareness Programme
We support The Catholic Diocese of Wabag with a gender-based violence programme in Enga Province, where violence against women and allegations of sorcery are prominent. Many women and children who have faced these allegations endure torture, or the threat of death.
Many people have been afraid to approach this situation. But these training sessions have been effective in educating locals about the inauthenticity of sorcery allegations, and given people the courage to stand up against torture and violence against women.
