Global Network
As Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand is a part of a global network, we have the capacity to collaboratively work with our fellow Caritas organisations to respond to emergencies or humanitarian needs.
These relationships allow us to join in solidarity with grassroots movements against poverty, violence, and natural disasters.
You can see below how Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand is responding to different emergencies:

Caritas Internationalis
Caritas International is a confederation of local, national and international organisation’s.
This confederation is inspired by Gospel values and Catholic Social Teaching.
Together we respond to disasters, promote integral human development and advocate on the causes of poverty and conflict.
Caritas Global Network Response to Ukraine
Our Caritas partners (including Caritas Ukraine and Caritas Spes) are on the ground providing support to the Ukrainian People in the following ways:
1) Assistance for displaced families providing information, free meals, water, and hygiene supplies as they flee to safer territories.
2) Emergency shelters with regular meals and hygiene facilities for families with no other accommodation options.
3) Transportation to help displaced families move through conflict zones safely and reach friends, family, and service providers.
4) Psychological support for families in need including special child-friendly spaces for children who have experienced trauma during the conflict.
Caritas Global Network Response to Covid-19 in India
When Covid-19 hit India, Caritas India sent out an appeal to the Global network. As this appeal was sent out, they begin to plan a response that was well beyond the funds that they alone could fundraise. The need for solidarity echoed around the world as people contacted us asking if we could support their response. We were then able to join in solidarity with Caritas India and help them fund their response.
“The development of peoples depends on a recognition that the human race is a single family working together…”
