2006 - Environmental justice

According to Biblical tradition and Catholic social teaching, human beings are charged with the stewardship of the earth and all living creatures. We are now waking up to the costs of overuse of resources, pollution and climate change. Actions that seem harmless in one place may bring grave harm to people elsewhere in the world. Catholic tradition brings awareness of being stewards of God’s creation, solidarity with the poor and self-sacrifice for the common good.

This booklet considers some of the most pressing environmental issues in the light of Catholic social teaching.
